 Bridal News Letter #14

Paris

This is a special addition to our News Letter.

I recently had the privilege to have a photo session in Paris.  To say the least, it was one of the greatest sessions in my career, having a beautiful subject and two great locations.  We started at the Eiffel Tower, one of the most recognized structures in the world and then continued on to the gardens at the Palace of Versailles.  Versailles was King Louis XIV’s home and unofficial capital city of France from 1682 to 1715 and then again with Louis XV from 1722 to 1789.

As we worked around the Eiffel Tower, the bride “Diane” seemed to be getting more attention than the tower itself, more and more tourists were turning their cameras on her. Again at Versailles we had many tourists ask to have their photo taken with Diane and we had many eyes turning to her, at that point I told Diane she had become “Princess Di” of France for the day.

This stunning dress came from The Special Event Bridal Shoppe in Marlborough, MA where you can find Mori Lee’s collection of dresses plus many more designers.

Here are a few tips when traveling to a destination for a wedding:

When traveling with a wedding gown, we recommend that you hand carry-on your dress.  This eliminates any chances of lost baggage, and most flight attendants are more than willing to assist you with the stowage onboard the aircraft.

Try to have your photographer scout out any special areas. I found that in early morning you will find very few tourists in the background of your photos and  the light conditions are much better in the early morning.  Discuss with your photographer if he or she is willing to supplement your wedding day with an extra session to take advantage of the ideal location at the best time of the day.

Make arrangements to take care of any wrinkles your dress may have from travel.  Consider bringing a steamer; ask the hotel if a steamer is available, or what a local cleaner can offer for services.

The shoes – As with our session in Paris, we covered a large area of the grounds and traveled to both locations.  We used traditional shoes for the photos and carried a more comfortable pair of flats for walking.

Don’t forget to take along a small carry bag with hairspray, a comb or brush, make-up, and lipstick.  A “first-aid” kit should contain a sewing kit, super/nail glue (to repair broken heels), extra hair pins, safety pins, and of course band-aids.
